	<title>Chocolate Chip Cookie</title>

Different Strokes for Different Folks
Not a big fan of milk? For some, a cup of coffee with any sweet--warm or not--is just as good. And some people think hot chocolate is good with a chocolate chip cookie. Still, for most of us, nothing beats milk!

Speaking of different, have you ever changed a chocolate chip cookie recipe around to try to make it better? Check out some of the things people do:


Some people think using melted butter instead of room temperature butter
Some add nuts
Some add a tablespoon of vanilla instead of a teaspoon (or however much the recipe calls for)
Some add a grated chocolate bar
Some use milk chocolate chips instead of semisweet chips
Some people throw in peanut butter chips and chocolate chips


As you can see, there are lots of variations of the basic chocolate chip cookie recipe. Play with them! Have Fun! Enjoy!

Back to Basics
Some bakers believe that nothing beats the classic! For your convenience, we've included a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe below:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) chocolate chips (semisweet or milk chocolate)

1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. 
3. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 
4. Gradually beat in flour mixture. 
5. Stir in chocolate chips. 
6. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. 
7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. 

Just so you know, you can store the dough in the refrigerator for up to a week (covered, of course) or in the freezer for up to 8 weeks.  Go ahead and divide the dough into rounded tablespoonfuls so you can pop them in the oven for a fresh, warm cookie or two whenever you want them.
